Full Professional Member of the British Institute of Professional Dog Trainers (MBIPDT).
Felicity Winters MBIPDT is passionate about everything canine, from breeding, training and working dogs, she has an intuitive ability to understand the dogs she is working with and come up with inventive and unique solutions, striving for long term results.
Having initially been refused a dog growing up as a child, Felicity managed to persuade her mother to allow her to have a dog. With one small stipulation: Teach the cat, Sebastian, to sit. Impossible? No (we even have a video as proof). Within 24 hours the cat sat to a hand signal, due to a combination of understanding the nature of the animal in front of her, and the correct application of a suitable training method.
She then went on to volunteer at a rescue kennel, working with large dogs, some with behavioural issues and bite histories. Undeterred, she developed a strong bond with the dogs she worked with and many went on to be re-homed. It was clear during her time that she was able to accurately assess the dogs, adapt her training methods and work effectively with them to achieve long-term results.
Re-homing Ruby the German Shepherd, Felicity embarked on a journey of understanding. Learning about dogs, studying intensively, and working on the issues which Ruby came with. Ruby sadly passed away from cancer in 2013 and Loki, a Springer x Labrador puppy came into the fore. It was then, that Valmorah Gundogs was (unofficially) born.
Felicity was given a role working in an internationally credited Police Dog training kennels whilst employed as a Police Constable, spending a period of time working around General Purpose Police dogs and Detection Dogs. Following the birth of Norse litter in 2015, Valmorah Gundogs became official with the grant of a kennel name and in 2016, Felicity left the Police and began "Valmorah Dog Training", offering 121 training, group classes and residential training.
Felicity is a full professional member of the British Insitute of Professional Dog Trainers (BIPDT) and has worked with local and international clients. She has built a strong reputation within her local community. With the addition of private training grounds, Valmorah Dog Training has gone from strength to strength.
Felicity and her dogs have consistently placed in a variety of gundog competitions and working tests with Buccleuch Quaver of Valmorah FTAW and Valmorah Peaky Blinder, winning the Arun and Downland Spaniel Trophy in both 2018 and 2019; and Best Spaniel at the Edenbridge and Oxted Team Challenge in 2019. We are looking forward to their performance during the 2019/2020 field trials.
